Skilled Worker Assessment Form

This is an Assessment Form for people who wish to emigrate to Canada under the Federal Skilled Worker Category or who may be eligible for Immigration under the Self Employed or Canada Experience Class Category or a Provincial Skilled Worker Program. Skilled Worker means generally that you are a professional or have a specific trade skill that is in demand in Canada. You are either working in Canada, have a permanent job offer to work in Canada or have a job that is in demand in Canada.

PLEASE NOTE, if you have a spouse/common law partner they should complete their own version of this form in order for me to complete an accurate assessment of your chances of emigration to Canada under this Category. Common Law is defined as living with a partner or same sex partner for more than one year.

Preliminary Questions

  2. You are currently working in Canada on a work permit or are not working in Canada but your employer has made a full time job offer that has been confirmed by HRDC and your employer has agreed to offer you a permanent job in Canada, if your skilled worker immigration application is successful.

Skilled Worker Assessment
  1. Education Level
  2. If you have not completed the number of years of study that correspond to your highest educational credential, award yourself points based on the number of years of study.
Work Experience
  1. You need the following work experience criteria in order to qualify under the skilled worker category:

    1. At least one year of continuous full-time paid work experience or the equivalent in part-time continuous employment,

    AND

    2. Work experience must be Skill Type 0 (managerial occupations) or Skill Level A (professional occupations) or B (technical occupations and skilled trades) on the Canadian National Occupational Classification list,

    AND

    3. The experience must have been obtained within the last 10 years.

Adaptability
  1. Have you or your spouse ever studied in Canada (post-secondary institution) for at least 2 years? This must be studies on a full time basis on a valid study permit after the age of 17.
  2. Attended Post Secondary in Canada

  4. Do you or your spouse have a relative in Canada?
  5. Relative must live in Canada and be a citizen or permanent resident. Relative would be a parent, grandparent, child, grandchild, child of a parent, (sibling), child of a grandparent, (aunt/uncle), or grandchild of a parent, (niece or nephew).
  6. Have you our your spouse ever worked in Canada for 1 year or more on a valid work permit?
  7. Are you currently working in Canada on a work permit and has your employer agreed to hire you on permanent basis if you are granted immigration to Canada?
  8. The Canadian Government requires proof of a minimum amount of liquid funds to bring to Canada (some exceptions such as job in Canada).
    Indicate above how much transferable funds you will have access to on arrival in Canada (CDN FUNDS).
